ENGINE BAY (with engine running - from inside the car)

*Slowly bring the car up to operating temperature. Once you've reached this point, gradually depress the accelerator, as the car comes up through the rev. range listen very carefully to the engine.
Do you note any 'Growls', 'Rattles' or 'Knocks'?
TRANSMISSION
Automatic Gearbox
From a standstill with engine running, apply the parking brake firmly, put the car in 'Reverse' and then in 'Drive'
Do you notice any 'clunks' from the drivetrain?
Now gently depress the accelerator while in Drive. Note any delay between your pressure on the accelerator pedal and the cars movement. This would indicate slipping clutches, worn bands etc.
Do you feel any slippage?
Does the car immediately try to move?
With the parking brake release, begin the road test, but 'manually' shift through the gears and note the smoothness or the 'change'.
Do the gears engage and disengage smoothly?
Do you notice any 'clunks' or 'harsh-shifting' from the drivetrain?
Manual Gearbox
With the car at a standstill, but with the engine running, apply the handbrake, depress the clutch, and engage second gear; now try to drive off.
Does the brake hold the car from moving?
Do you notice any slipping of the clutch?
Now depress the clutch and select each gear in turn.
Does the clutch seem to operate correctly?
Do the gears engage easily and smoothly?
Do any of the gears/syncros seem noisy?
Does the throw-out bearing seem noisy?
If 4x4
Do both boxes engage Low Range?
Do both boxes engage High Range?

TEST DRIVE (Required)
Once on the road, check the foot brakes.

SUSPENSION

Do you see any fluid leaks?
Check the underneath whenever possible. Stab around with an awl or screwdriver, especially the frame, dog legs, jack points and structural sections (where body, axles, springs attach to the frame) if anything looks rusted, patched or suspicious, write it down.
NOTE: If no lift was available at the time of the inspection any comments made are based on observations from a prone position. As it is impossible to inspect the underside of a vehicle thoroughly without a lift, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THERE ARE NO ISSUES in this area.

NOTES
The front bumper cover has some scratches. There is a rust spot on the rear bumper. There is a dent on the right rear corner. There is 1 bad door holder (see photo). The left side flare has a scratch by the front wheel. There is a scrape on the right side behind the right wheel. There was no jack seen. The tire tread is: RF: 10/32 | LF: 12/32 | RR: Out 10/32 In 10/32 | LR: Out 10/32 In 12/32. The suspension could not be bounce tested but it felt fine during the road test.
